Employment Discrimination
SMM Law is well versed on equal employment opportunity laws and we handle all types of discrimination and harassment lawsuits.
Equal employment opportunity (EEO) laws make it unlawful for employers to discriminate against their employees on the basis of certain characteristics like age, race, gender, pregnancy, sexual orientation, religion, and national origin. These laws also cover issues involving disabilities and reasonable accommodations, equal pay, and unlawful harassment.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) is responsible for the enforcement of these laws and it conducts administrative investigations against employers. Because of this, employers have to be extra careful before making decisions and taking employment actions that affect employees.
At SMM Law, we know labor and employment law because it’s all we do. We have significant experience helping employers comply with EEO laws by developing compliant policies, counseling employers on day-to-day employment decisions, training managers and supervisors, and conducting workplace investigations and audits in order to identify and correct issues.
SMM Law also represents employers in all types of discrimination lawsuits and we’ve successfully handled these cases in state and federal courts, including individual and class action lawsuits. Litigation can be both costly and time consuming and, in this regard, we work with our clients to immediately develop an effective strategy to ensure that we’re efficient and cost effective.
